Urban Outfitters Inches Forward

The above picture is a rendering of the 1 million square foot, $105 million distribution facility of Urban Outfitters, a large international retailer.

A Philadelphia retailer is contemplating building in Salisbury Township along Route 30, directly across Brackbill Road from the retailer’s existing warehouse.

State Representative Gordon Denlinger (R-Narvon) announced this week that Pennsylvania had approved Lancaster County’s application to create a tax abatement zone in Salisbury Township.

The owner of the facility wouldn’t pay local and state property taxes for 10 years and, according to LancasterOnline, “make payments in lieu of taxes to Salisbury Township, Pequea Valley School District and Lancaster County.”

If the site is selected, a decision expected in the next 60 days. Construction would start in January 2014 and end in May 2015. The warehouse would employ up to 500 people.
