The Parkesburg Area Special Events Committee announced last week that six area nonprofit groups were the beneficiary of $13,000.00 which was raised at the recent Community Day Celebration.
The beneficiaries included the Octorara Area Food Cupboard, The Parkesburg Church’s Community Outreach, The Parkesburg Free Library, The Keystone Valley Fire Department, The Parkesburg Point, and the Octorara Track Boosters.
In addition the board of directors of the events committee authorized the purchase of new Christmas Decorations for the Borough.
The Parkesburg Area Special Events Committee was formed by the Borough of Parkesburg in January of 2015 to promote activities for the community while serving the needs of local charities and service groups. The committee is chartered as a nonprofit 501 ©3 corporation.
It is operated by a voluntary board of directors which includes; Jack Assetto, President, Michael Martorona, Vice President, John Carnes Esq. Secretary/ Attorney, David Jones, Treasurer, and Ken Knickerbocker, Pete Mango and Gerry Treadway, Directors.
