Looking at the The Parkesburg Area Business Association brochure, the credo of the organization is to “work to unify member businesses in the continuing promotion of all Parkesburg area business at large and to promote the Parkesburg Community in general”. The group cites Strength (in number of members); Network opportunities; Voice & Power (be part of a voice that talks with local government); Awareness (raising community awareness, spirit and pride); Impact (a “bigger bang” from your advertising dollar).
On Thursday evening, May 12th the Coatesville Moose hosted the annual PABA Banquet and awards presentation looking back at the year 2015. More than fifty attendees were treated to a great dinner and a fantastic dessert table designed and crafted by Ethel Rose Restaurant on First Avenue.
Former mayor Allen Wolf started the dinner portion of the evening with the invocation. During the social portion and dinner, 50/50 tickets were sold and bidding took place on the more that thirty silent auction items that were available, donated by many of the business that were represented at the banquet. The proceeds of these fund raisers help pay for the annual scholarships and special projects undertaken by the organization.
The winner of the $1000 Octorara High School Scholarship was Miss Alexis Lonsinger; the $1000 Parkesburg Point scholarship to Mr. Sanjay Rowe; the Business Leader of the Year award was garnered by Fountain Springs Wellness Spa (Raeleen J. Mills; Meggan Wallace-Pirozzi and Laurel Carnie). The citizen of the year was Dwayne Walton, Director of Parkesburg Point Youth Center.
In his remarks, Walton did not accept the award on his own but shared the award with all of those who donate their time to the kids at the Parkesburg Point. Allen Wolfe won the 50/50 which he donated back to the scholarship fund.
