Octorara Alumni Earns Lancaster Newspaper’s Top Teen Distinction

What did newly minted Octorara alumni Elizabeth Lapp do to earn LancasterOnline’s “Teen of the Week” distinction Saturday?

According to the article, Ms. Lapp lives a full life jammed with work, sports, worship, music, broadcasting, scholarship and volunteerism.

Here is what I am sure is a partial list of Ms. Lapp’s activities and accomplishments.

  • Producer, editor and anchor of Octorara’s morning TV show.
  • Part-time clerk at Moccasin Run’s snack bar.
  • A Cochranville Fire Company junior firefighter.
  • The captain of the Octorara Braves varsity softball team where she played catcher, third baseman and shortstop.
  • A flag twirler and a section leader in Octorara’s color guard.
  • An actress appearing in several school plays and musicals including “Back to the 80s,’’ “The Wizard of Oz,’’ “Cinderella: The Untold Story’’ and“The Music Man.
  • A student and dance instructor at Harrison Dance Studios in Parkesburg.
  • An alto in Octorara High School chorus
  • Valedictorian of Octorara’s Class of 2014.
  • Treasurer Octorara High School chapter of the National Honor Society.
  • A member of the Model United Nations and winner of several club awards and recognitions.
  • Member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church.

The list begs the question, what Ms. Lapp plans to do for an encore?

Somehow, I suspect, she’ll figure it out.
