The Lanchester United Girls U-14 Hotshots travel soccer team has been making some positive waves in the local and national soccer community. This girls team is comprised of young ladies from the Octorara, Pequea Valley and West Fallowfield schools.

They have been a team since the fall of 2010 and some of these girls have been playing together since the 3rd and 4th grade. They have played in both the Lanco and Philadelphia Area Girls Soccer Leagues, and they have played in tournaments in Lancaster, Chester, and Berks counties.

The team recently competed in the LVSC tournament in Hershey, PA. They did not allow a single goal in the 4 games they played, but lost in penalty kicks in the semi-finals. They will next compete in the Red Rose indoor league, and they are also preparing for the Pennsylvania State Indoor Cup championships in February.

The girls are presently featured on the Diadora Soccer website here.

Not only are these girls making a mark with their travel team, but they are also making a mark with their middle school teams. Recently some of the girls from Pequea Valley Middle School received honors at their middle school sports banquet.

Lydia Cacciola was awarded Most Valuable Player; Gabby Leaman received the Most Valuable Defensive Player: Leona Stoltzfus received the Sportsmanship Award.

Members of the Hotshots who play for the Octorara Middle School team also made their mark by being leaders in both skill and sportsmanship. These girls also help in the Octorara intramural program as mentors to younger players.

Coached by Kent Buohl and Eric Lofgren, members of the team are: Jessica Brewer, Alexa Cacciola, Lydia Cacciola, Gabrielle Clark, Regan Donecker, Kendall Gibson, Kyrstin Jarvis, Gabrielle Leaman, Leah Lofgren, Aaren Milne, Mackenzie Stirling, Leona Stoltzfus, Adrianna Strauser, and Lauren Sweigart.

Lanchester United is an open travel team organization under the umbrella of Octorara Soccer Club, with players from at least five different school districts involved in the program. For more information check out Octorarasoccerclub.com.
