Book Signing by Former State Representative Art Hershey and Parkesburg historian Gerry Treadway tonight.
The Parkesburg History Group and Parkesburg Today have rescheduled the event now that better weather has arrived. Enjoy an evening with two local authors who will discuss and sign copies of their books.
Art Hershey, retired state legislator, will present his recently published book “From the Farm to the house” and Gerry Treadway, a local antique bottle collector will discuss his book “Parkesburg Bottles” and display his bottle collection.
Hershey, who served in the House of Representatives in Harrisburg for 26 years, recounts many of his life experiences as a dairy farmer in the Cochranville area and his journey to Harrisburg as a lawmaker and politician.
Treadway collected, researched and authored a unique history about bottles that were used by Parkesburg businesses from 1852 to the present day. The collection includes 18 different bottles and stories about milk bottles from area farms and dealers. Many interesting stories and pictures are integrated with historical information about the Octorara area.
The event will convene at Parkesburg’s Government Services Building at 315 W. First Avenue tonight at 7:00 PM.
Light refreshments will be served.
