Health Care in Christiana and Parkesburg

Ephrata Community Hospital is a new outpatient center that offers a family care practice, imaging services and laboratory services at Community Services of Georgetown at 1135 Georgetown Road in Christiana.

On October 16, Lancaster General Health—whose Walmart express center closed—will offer family care and cardiology, imaging, laboratory services, diabetes education and obstetrics, gynecology and urgent care at the Lancaster General Health Center in Parkesburg on Routes 30 and 10 in Chester County.

Stats from LancasterOnline:

Lancaster General Health’s 39,000-square-foot facility will house 14 exam rooms, nine used by the physicians of its Parkesburg Family Medicine practice.

Specialists from Lancaster General Health Physicians Family and Maternal Medicine and the Heart Group of Lancaster General Health will use the other exam rooms, offering hours at various times.

An urgent care center will offer six exam rooms and be open seven days a week. Lab services and imaging, including mammograms and an MRI, also will be available, as will physical therapy services.

The center expects to have almost 36,500 patient visits, across all of its services, in the first year.

An open house will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 19, at the new center.

Ephrata will occupy 8,300 square feet on the second floor of the two-story Bart Township building.

It came to the area after discussions with the Plain community and with Birth Care & Family Health Services, which also is in the building and has another center across the street.

Wright and a nurse practitioner will offer walk-in hours from 1 to 6 p.m. on weekday afternoons at the six exam rooms of their Georgetown Family Health offices.

Imaging, including X-ray and ultrasound, and lab services also will be available.

Wright hopes to eventually offer a full range of services, including dentistry and mental health services. There also is room for a pharmacy at the center, he says.

The staff will be at a health and wellness fair, to be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the nearby Bart Township Fire Hall, 11 Furnace Road. The office also will be open during that time.

Elsewhere in the Community Services of Georgetown building are: Birth Care & Family Health Services, which will offer its prenatal and post-partum appointments there; Integrative Health Consults, which treats tick-borne diseases; Dr. Jerome Martinez Family Chiropractic; and Ann L. Johnson, health and lifestyle counselor.
