The water company is shutting down Main Street on Friday.
According to the Daily Local News:
Pennsylvania American Water is scheduled to close Main Street between Route 10 and Culvert Street in Parkesburg starting Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for water main replacement, PennDOT announced. The weekday closure will be in effect through early May.
During construction, Main Street through traffic will be detoured over Route 10, also called Church Street, Leike Road and Limestone Road. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.
Since Main Street is a state road and the water company is operating under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit, Parkesburg Borough Officials have little input on the project.
Thats not to borough officials aren’t trying. Perturbed over the quality of the lunar surface like repaving on the parts of the project already completed, Borough Manager Jim Thomas and Police Chief Brian Sheller scheduled a meeting with water company officials this week to express their perturbedness.
As of Thursday morning, there’s no word yet on how that meeting went.
There is some good, but off in the distance news regarding Main Street however. Once the water company completes the water main replacement project sometime next year, the entire stretch of Main Street From Route 10 all the way to the Borough line at Limestone Road will be repaved.
At least that’s what I hear.
