Once again this morning (3/12/16) fire returned to this block of 4th Ave. and did serious damage to the entire row. The origin appeared to be seated towards the western end of the row.  This time, the blaze had a very bad head start prior to the arrival of firefighters and major damage was incurred by the entire set of homes.  Fire officials are again trying to to determine the cause of both blazes.  Parkesburg Today urges all readers to keep an eye on local social media sites to find out how you can assist these unfortunate, displaced families.   For more photos and information connect with the Keystone Valley Fire Dept.

Original  Story –  Posted 3/11/16

An early morning fire this morning gutted the second floor of a row home in the 500 Block of W. Fourth Avenue. Due to the quick work of firefighters from the Keystone Valley fire Department assisted by surrounding companies, the fire damage was limited to the dwelling of origin, 537 W. 4th. Dwellings attached to the residence suffered some smoke and water damage but were spared major fire damage due to fire walls between the structures. Fire officials believe the blaze began in the bedroom area to the rear of 537. Officials stated that one resident was transported to the hospital for reported smoke inhalation and another victim was treated at the scene. K.V.F.D. was assisted by Gap, Christiana, Cochranville, Sadsburyville, Westwood fire companies along with Brandywine Medic 93. The blaze was brought under control within a half hour. Fire Marshalls are investigating the specific cause.
