An early morning fire this morning gutted the second floor of a row home in the 500 Block of W. Fourth Avenue. Due to the quick work of firefighters from the Keystone Valley fire Department assisted by surrounding companies, the fire damage was limited to the dwelling of origin, 537 W. 4th. Dwellings attached to the residence suffered some smoke and water damage but were spared major fire damage due to fire walls between the structures. Fire officials believe the blaze began in the bedroom area to the rear of 537. Officials stated that one resident was transported to the hospital for reported smoke inhalation and another victim was treated at the scene. K.V.F.D. was assisted by Gap, Christiana, Cochranville, Sadsburyville, Westwood fire companies along with Brandywine Medic 93. The blaze was brought under control within a half hour.
