Clark, Cooper Propel Alvernia

Clark, Cooper Propel Alvernia

After shooting 6-for-9 from the floor, scoring 14 points and pulling down nine rebounds from the guard position no less, not to mention dishing out four assists and finding time to grab four steals in a game against John Hopkins University last week, former Octorara guard Lamont Clark, an Alvernia Junior, was named the school’s Athlete of the Week.

Clark however, wasn’t the only Octorara alumn instrumental in lifting Alvernia to a come from behind win over Hopkins.  Former Octorara guard and Alvernia Sophomore Chuckie Cooper was there too! Cooper came off the bench to sustain the Crusaders during a critical junction in the first half.

In the half Cooper hit three 3’s in nine minutes and scored 14 of his career high 16 points in the first half of the game to keep Alvernia close and shrink Hopkins lead to just four points at the half.

Even though they trailed at halftime, Alvernia put together a 26-10 run over the last 10 minutes of the game to pull away to a convincing 81-65 win.
