Its the time of the year when local charieties hold their annual summer golf tournaments to give golfers yet another chance to slam the dickens out of the little white ball all while raising a few dollars for a good cause.
A couple of weeks ago it was Octorara’s football booster’s club’ tournament. Monday was Parkesburg Library’s turn to host their annual tournament at Tanglewood Golf Course near Quarryville. Next up is Moores Memorial Library in Christiana tournament slated for June 24th.
The Moores Memorial Library on Slokom Avenue in Christiana is offering golfers 18 holes of golf at Moccasin Run Golf Course in West Fallowfield including greens fee and a cart, lunch, dinner and those all important on course beverages for just $90 per golfer.
In addition to the good food and drink, tournament organizers are throwing in contests for the longest drive, the drive closest to the pin, the straightest drive and the best putt(s) as well.
Check in on the 24th is between noon and 1:00 PM. Lunch will be served beginning at noon and dinner when all the golfers come off the course around 6:00 PM or so.
The tournament and contests are open to amatuer golfers only. If any professionals frustrated they didn’t do better in last weekend’s US Open in Marion sneak through and want to play, they’ll be allowed to eat but under no circumstances will they be awarded any prizes!
If the weather holds, and it looks like it will, the tournament promises to be a good time.
There are still a few slot open. If you’re interested in putting together a foursome or want to fill in for a last minute cancellation by filling out someone elses forseome go online call Jack Assetto, the event coordinator, in his barber shop on First Avenue at 610.857.1920.
