You won’t find any tents out at the Octorara campus these days but, you will find “campers” – a LOT of campers for it’s sports camp season 2018.

Field Hockey Camp 2018

Last week, the Octorara Field Hockey Boosters hosted their summer camp with over thirty participants under the watch of Varsity Coach Jalisa Torres.  As with all sports in this forthcoming year, the Lady Braves will need to get used to looking across the field at completely different schools as Octorara has converted its sports schedule to the Lancaster-Lebanon League.  We still see a match against long time opponent Oxford on their schedule which should bring back at least a few memories for the stick handlers.IMG_0071

Spanning across four baseball diamonds the Ryan Vogelsong 5 Star Baseball Camp was in full “swing” with over seventy sluggers and fielders and pitchers and catchers under the watchful eye of Vogelsong, a graduate of Octorara and an All Star, World Series winning pitcher for the San Francisco Giants. All facets of the sport were covered, fundamentals were stressed.  Throwing, hitting, sliding and of course, running.

MLB All Star Pitcher (SF Giants) Vogelsong keeps a keen eye on all aspects of the camp.

PJ’s deli of Stottsville furnished lunches for the baseball camp and Rita’s furnished refreshments for both the baseball and the field hockey camps.

This week, it’s the ever-popular Octorara Basketball Camp hosted by long time coach and Octorara Athletic Director, Gene Lambert.  Lambert, in his 18th season as head basketball coach replaced Ray Wessner at the helm in 2000.  Assisting coach Lambert were Junior Varsity Coach Jason Ralston, former players Tarojae Brake (Kutztown University); Skylar Lambert; Domonic London (Harcum College); current Varsity team members Keith Lambert, Jr.; Matt Keating and Alex Lantz.

The camp stressed defensive skills, passing, dribbling and rebounding both on the offensive boards and defensive boards.
